Hundreds of lanterns float in the waters off of Magic Island in Ala Moana Park in Honolulu, Hawaii, May 31, 2004 during the annual Toro-Nagashi (Lantern Floating) Ceremony. The lanterns with names of family and friends who have gone from this world are set afloat in the shores of the Pacific Ocean to serve as beacons to their dead souls so they can find their way back to the spirtual world. The Lantern Floating Ceremony, organized by the Shinnyo-en temple of Hawai'i, precedes the Obon Festival or "Feast of the Dead". The ceremony is also held on Memorial Day weekend to pray for the souls of the war dead and highlight the need for world peace. REUTERS/Lucy Pemoni
