Pemoni > Ramon Navarro of Chile , who finished 5th overall in the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau, Big Waves Hawaii, reacts to winning the Monster Drop speciality award, Tuesday Dec. 9, 2009. The last 'Eddie' was in 2004. Waves are required to be in the 20 to 30 foot range. Navarro's dropped in from the top of a 25 foot wave straight down on his backhand. He hit with a an explosion of whitewater but emerged and then surfed all the way to the beach to cheering crowds. He earned a perfect 100 points. LUCY PEMONI PHOTO.
